Jason Cammisa said he wants double the horsepower out of his Rover SD1 aluminum-block V-8 engine. In this video, Davin begins the process of granting that wish. The block, heads, and rotating assembly all need work in order up the output of this iconic 3.5L V-8, originally designed by Buick. New .020"-over pistons are ordered to increase the abysmally low, smog-era compression ratio, and the block needs to be cleaned up, bored and honed to fit them. More air = more power, so along with a fresh valve job on the cylinder heads, Davin does the necessary porting work to maximize airflow through the intake and exhaust ports. Lastly, to handle the increase in horsepower, we head to Allshaft Repair to get the rotating assembly balanced and ready for smooth revving.
