Crochet has taken me to some unexpected places, and this summer it brought me back to London for my third year teaching a crochet workshop at the wonderful Loop London.
In this video, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my day — travelling down from Manchester, making my way across a quiet Sunday morning in London, arriving at Loop, preparing for the workshop and spending time in this incredible creative space.
I don't film the workshop itself, as I wanted to keep that time private for everyone who came along, but afterwards I finally had the chance to explore Loop properly and choose a few special things to bring home with me.
Back in Brazil, I'll also share everything I bought at Loop London, including recycled silk yarn from Ito, a beautiful mustard-coloured Isager Spinni yarn, and a gorgeous embroidery book by Judit Gummich.
I've been trying to become much more conscious about the yarn I buy — choosing fibres that I genuinely love, materials I can't easily find here in Brazil, and yarns that already have a purpose or idea behind them. Although I did make a couple of little impulse purchases, they are yarns I already have plans for rather than simply adding more yarn to my stash.
For me, slow crochet isn't just about taking time to make something. It's also about being thoughtful about what we choose to make, what materials we bring into our homes, and creating pieces that can become meaningful and lasting parts of our wardrobes.
