While Captain America 2 or Captain America The Winter Soldier is often (rightly so) heralded as the best movie in the MCU, I do think it set a visual precedent for Marvel movies that ultimately turned into a bad thing. For everything that perfect MCU movie does right, Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel learned the wrong lessons Winter Soldier taking the gritty ground level style the Russo's used for their grounded political spy thriller, and used it for every subsequent MCU movie, regardless of the tone, characters, or genres those other films were playing with. Marvel movies are ugly, and doubling down on the Russo Brothers Captain America style is why. This is also in part why Phase 4 of the MCU, the Multiverse Saga, is so unimaginative and failing.

🎞 About Captain America: The Winter Soldier 🎞
After the cataclysmic events in New York with his fellow Avengers, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Chris Evans), lives in the nation's capital as he tries to adjust to modern times. An attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague throws Rogers into a web of intrigue that places the whole world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and a new ally, the Falcon, Rogers struggles to expose an ever-widening conspiracy, but he and his team soon come up against an unexpected enemy. The Winter Soldier is directed by the Russo Brothers.
