Canada’s Big 5 Banks are masters at corporate doublespeak.
They claim to be committed to climate action, but what they’re actually committed to is lining their shareholder’s pockets with windfall profits from the fossil fuel industry.
If the banks won’t tell the truth, we’ll tell it for them, in the same jargony corporate ad-speak they clearly can’t get enough of: maybe they’ll understand it better if it’s packaged in their own language!
It’s time for the Big 5 to put their money where their mouth is. If they rightly state that urgent environmental action is needed to protect our collective future, they must divest from fossil fuels.
