Casey Jones - Professional Engineer | How avoiding a $70,000 expense will cost taxpayers $92 million in New Jersey @CaseyJones-Engineer | Uploaded May 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
I provide a detailed breakdown of how this major retaining wall failed in Bellmawr, New Jersey and how the New Jersey DOT and their design consultant repeatedly ignored warnings from the contractor that such a wall failure was all but inevitable. I cover all of the important geotechnical insights into this incident and a summary of key communications between the contractor and New Jersey DOT officials. I also provide my perspective as to how such flagrant mistakes happen at some DOTs throughout the United States. For this video, I based a lot of my research on information that was compiled and posted by CBS Philadelphia reporter, Brandon Goldner. Below is a link to the source information that he posted from his investigation into the wall failure.
