Anubis: Guide to the Afterlife & Osiris' Judgment

Although he had earlier been the chief god of the dead, Anubis now became the deity who came to guide the soul safely from its tomb to judgment before Osiris in the Hall of Truth Anubis was present as the soul recited the negative confession a list of sins one had not committed in life and when the heart of the soul was weighed against the white feather of truth in the golden balances. Osiris would then consult with Anubis the god Thoth and the 42 judges before deciding whether the soul deserved paradise or the punishment of nonexistence Anubis might defend the soul in front of the others if there was any question of its worth. He was an extremely important deity in regards to the afterlife and was worshipped with his own temples and sacrifices
