I'm not the type of person who usually pays attention to the Oscars or other awards ceremonies for the movies and shows we watch, especially since the Oscars has a history of disrespecting animation. Also, nearly every year, they tend to pick a Disney or Pixar film, and then sometimes Dreamworks and other major studios. However, Flow and its victory in the recent academy award for best animated feature surprised me, as it has become the first indie animated film to ever win the award. This victory could very well be a significant moment for the animation industry and change it for the better.
