What if AI could help us make faster, more accurate warnings for tornadoes and severe weather?
At NOAA’s National Severe Storms Laboratory, researchers are testing the WoFSCast system, which uses artificial intelligence to generate high-quality thunderstorm forecasts in just one minute. During the Spring Forecasting Experiment, forecasters were impressed with its potential to provide earlier warnings for tornadoes and flash flooding.
This is just one way NOAA is using AI to build the weather tools of tomorrow - keeping people safe when storms turn dangerous.
