How A Secret Youtube Filmmaking Movement led to Obsession. Hi my name is Daniel Lotz, i've been a youtube filmmaker for nearly 17 years since my childhood around 6-7 years ago I started documenting a phenomon which I called Folk filmmaking. Basically the idea of making feature film narrative films and releasing them free on youtube. Over the years nearly 600 films have amassed the playlist, over the years I added works from Kane Pixels and Curry Barker, documenting them as high profile examples of people waking up to the idea of putting movies online for free. This is a deep dive into the history of cinema on youtube from someone who's lived it for most of my life. I'm obviously not trying to take credit for the immense work these two titans created but its amazing how the landscape of making feature films on youtube was completely barren nearly 6-10 years ago and now its viewed as a great place to start a career.
