SDLP leader Colum Eastwood announced he was standing down as head of the party and threw his backing behind South Belfast MP Claire Hanna to replace him.
At a press conference in Londonderry, he spoke of the pride and honour, he had in the role and how he was able to stand down on his own terms - something he said was not often afforded political leader.
