The forgotten craft of Bamboo Leaf Green Tea (Zhu Ye Qing), one of the most famous and prized green teas in China. Most Zhu Ye Qing nowadays is made with lower temperatures, a reduced rolling process and with the help of machinery which produces a very different taste when compared to the traditionally made version.
Finding traditionally made Zhu Ye Qing is very rare but I had the honour of meeting Master Wang Ming who is keeping this craft alive. Watching him hand make this tea was a mesmerising experience- it is evident every batch of his tea is made with an impeccable amount of focus and care.
This is just a snippet of what I filmed on my trip to mount Emei in Sichuan, to see more visit our channel and search “The Forgotten Craft of Zhu Ye Qing”
