China's Mu Us Desert was once a vast sea of sand, but decades of tree planting and ecological restoration efforts have transformed the landscape.

Nearly 30 years after planting a tree there, American teacher Ronald Sakolsky returned to see how much it had grown. Today, satellite images show a dramatic shift from barren yellow sands to lush green land.
