Being in my early 20s, based in the West Midlands, and suddenly running a company with a million pounds in the bank was surreal. No one had heard of us at the time, but Gymshark was growing fast and being a founder felt like the job flipped on its head depending on the stage of the business.

In those early years, there was no data, no playbook, and no safety net. We had to take risks that often made no sense on paper. At one point, we went from doing two small events in Birmingham to suddenly committing to events across Germany, Australia, and the US. Every step forward meant risking everything we had again and again.

I’ll never forget the feeling of having that first million in the bank, knowing we could’ve just stopped and been comfortable. But instead, we bet it all on the next move. That mindset of risking it all to grow Gymshark was what pushed us to the next level.
