I just wanted to show examples of how Hover Legs worked in AC2, AC2: Another Age, and AC3.
There was a trick with the strafing functions that allowed for properly timed tapping of the boost button to lead to a continued boost-slide-strafe and boost -slide-zig-zag movement that was highly energy efficient. Trying to do this in a forward or backward direction would tend to lead to failing to keep the unit grounded.
Hover Legs did not utilize boosters equipped to the core -thus you could not modify their boosting characteristics that were build into the legs themselves.
Hover legs were niche as sometimes a mission map would feature deep water and only a hover leg AC could boost and hover over water and not fall into the water and drown.
