This course offers an introduction to the notion of common good and its central yet under-appreciated significance in the science of ethics. We will focus on the common good of a household (with a consideration of marriage and parenting), and will also consider the political common good and that of the whole universe. We will emphasize practical implications and the use of these principles to renew the communities to which we belong.
