The plaintiff said she and the defendant rented an apartment together, but before they moved in, she made two rules: no drugs or underage drinking. The plaintiff claims she only lived in the apartment six weeks because the defendant brought drugs into the residence. The plaintiff is suing her today for unpaid rent, utilities, and a security deposit. The defendant says when she and the plaintiff moved in together, she was dating one of the plaintiff’s friends. The defendant claims that when she broke up with her boyfriend, the plaintiff became distant and left to move in with her new boyfriend, who she barely knew. The defendant insisted she paid her share of the rent and utilities every month, and therefore doesn’t owe the plaintiff a dime.
