Everyone ive met seams to get it wrong, every tutorial ive watched seams to get it wrong, and its as simple as remembering the "Heritage" of this song No one knows who wrote it, but we all no what its based on.. IE who would of been singing it, so it stands to reason that the First Time Around its actually an E Minor
Second Time Around its an E.. then an E Minor the third time
its not Always an E and its not Always an E Minor
ive also seen tutorials using EM7 instead of an E all the way through : /

the animals version of this was the LONGEST song at the time to ever be played on the radio, and its repetitive, simply because they fail to use the EM then the E then the EM
When you try to Pick the chords as the animals do
you will find it sounds way better if you do a Rhythm palmed strum first
It helps set the pace, then run with the picking over it
then when ya wana truly wail out half way through, do a third layer with open strumming instead of palmed, but i truly recommend palming to get your rhythm going
