I-44 has been shut down between Joplin & Miami due to an officer-involved shooting and a reported hostage situation near the Miami Travel Center.

All traffic is being diverted at mile marker 1, with backups reported near mile marker 2.

Joplin Police are encouraging drivers headed into Oklahoma to exit at Exit 4 near @4StateTrucks and to use Hwy 10 into Miami as an alternate route.
