Come along with me for a backpacking trip on the Horse Thief Springs loop in the Ouachita NF in southern Oklahoma. I'd recommend this area in the fall, winter & early spring. Any later April and you'll experience some trail invasion in some areas and a bit of bushwacking due to spring vegetation incursion on the trail.
