During the 2025 Sitges Film Festival, we had the pleasure of interviewing a living legend of film scores: Richard Band, one of the greatest composers in the history of genre cinema and the mastermind behind iconic soundtracks for Re-Animator, Troll, Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Prison, TerrorVision, The Resurrected, and many more.
In this video interview, he talks about his creative approach before starting a new project, walks us through his creative process using Puppet Master as an example, and discusses the musical homages he pays to other composers in his work—such as the famous tribute to Psycho in Re-Animator.
We apologize for the audio quality — the wind during the interview was terrible. I had to remove as much of it as possible during editing, and although I repaired the audio the best I could, there are still a few parts that don’t sound great.
