I was on the island of Yap when the massive typhoon, Haiyan, was bearing down upon us. We had no idea if it would be a direct hit or not. But what the heck. I climbed up the rigging on a bar at the Manta Ray Resort where they fire a cannon off daily to announce happy hour. The wind is beginning to blow but the typhoon is still miles away. Later I hooped in the pounding rainstorm and the last bit is from the waves which are beginning to lap over the road. Haiyan missed both Yap and Palau and split the difference between them. Whew! But then continued on to devastate the Phillopines.
