Standing today at Pensacola Veterans Memorial Park, Memorial Day reminds us of a truth our culture should never forget:
Freedom is costly.
The names etched into these memorials represent real people who laid down their lives so others could live in liberty. Their sacrifice deserves remembrance, gratitude, and honor.
But this message also points to another sacrifice.
The Christian message teaches that spiritual freedom came at an even greater cost — the life of Jesus Christ Himself.
Salvation is offered freely to us, but it was not free to purchase.
