We recently celebrated Dynasty Taylor, founder and CEO of Dynasty's United Youth Association (DUYA) and one of the inspiring honorees at this year’s George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards Celebration, on October 6 in Washington, D.C.
Dynasty is a force for transformation in South Los Angeles. What began at age ten, teaching neighborhood kids to read and organizing community talent shows, has grown into a thriving nonprofit that empowers underserved youth to rise from poverty to prosperity through education, mentorship, workforce development and volunteerism.
Dynasty’s leadership is rooted in lived experience. Raised by her grandmother while her parents were incarcerated, she found purpose in giving back and built DUYA to reflect the values of humility, authenticity and community connection. Her hiring model starts with volunteerism, ensuring every team member shares the mission and heart of the work.
