A little different video for me. I make a special drill bit for a honey doo job. The drill itself is a spoof but the method is identical to how you would make a steel cutting tool. The electronic gearing was a collaboration between me and my friend Mr Bill. I did the mechanical work and he worked out the control scheme. The servo motor position is synchronized to the milling machine table movement via an encoder connected to the milling machine axis and is fully programmable for different helical solutions. The control is also capable of doing direct number indexes. If you have ever done high count indexing you will appreciate the ability to push a button and make your index move.
