2nd week of April, spring is early this year. Plum blossom is two thirds gone, apples are at pink bud, pear blossom is almost full. Bees have been scarce, only a few bumble bees see so far, this is the first time we have seen honey bees this year and they are most welcome. The pear with very thick blossom is variety Winter Nelis.
We used to keep bees but it is a lot of effort and we don't have the time. We leave a lot of rough areas and hedgerows to support wild bee populations but honey bees are a very welcome sight.
