In this video, I describe the aftermarket exhaust extension I purchased to use with my new Honda EU7000iS quiet generator. This kit allows the generator to be run (more) safely while it is inside a structure, such as a shed, a barn, or a detached garage, since it directs the exhaust gases outdoors. Nevertheless, this kit should NOT be used as a means to run a generator inside part of a dwelling (e.g. an attached garage)!
A major advantage of using an exhaust extension kit like this, especially on an expensive generator, is that the structure can be partly closed, discouraging theft and keeping the generator 'out of the elements' during use. For example, if the generator is being run inside a detached garage, the garage door can be mostly closed (enough that the generator cannot be easily stolen) yet still have plenty of opening to outside air, all while the exhaust gases are being directed straight to the outdoors via the flexible steel pipe and through-wall fitting.
The dual-wall exhaust fitting shown here keeps the exhaust gas inside the inner pipe, while the outer pipe just barely gets warm, safe to penetrate the wall itself and various kinds of siding that might be present.
