I wanted to answer a question I was asked recently about how to courageously break away from the norm and go your own way. I realize that my upbringing is pretty different from what a lot of people expect, so I wanted to share a bit about how my rural, nature-based upbringing, homeschool years, and decision to not attend a university and instead choose a career as an artist and author has shaped and transformed my life. This is not a video about what you should do or choose, but rather, a deeply humble sharing of this path I have been traveling, and an invitation to tune into the beautiful melody of your own soul. I believe your own spirit guide within knows you best. I don't call myself an author because I don’t believe in labels.
I believe that story is art - that it's sacred, and that it is and has always been a force that changes and shapes our world. That's why I write, and that's why I create videos (even co-produced an environmental film). I consider the world my home, and enjoy submerging in unique cultures nearly as much as I love submerging in the ocean and riding the waves. I am the author of the young adult urban fantasy series The Blood Race, and am currently working on several new series's.
