I'm helping my friend Bill in Vermont. He is installing a roof mount solar PV array. The array is tilted to grab the southern sun. This is on a rib metal roof and screwed in place. The panels are Q-cell 395 watts each. Panels will be wired 2 in series, to increase the voltage. This will create two strings, each will run down into it's own MPPT (maximum power point tracking) input. The solar charge controller is built into the inverter, MPP Solar LV5048.
We ran out of time to do the wiring, but I was able to help my friend with the heavy lifting of the panels. Bill is using a battery bank made up of 4 modules. Each module is a BYD brand LiFePO4 battery. Lithium Iron Phosphate. Each module is 8s, for 24v. Bill arranged them as 2p2s, creating 16s, for 48v battery. This battery is what Bill uses with the LV5048 inverter to power his house during the frequent power outages in Vermont. The batteries were purchased at Battery Hookup.
