What a throwback! Originally from Yoshi's Island (the game), this song was remixed for Partners in Time by Yoko Shimomura, and now that rendition has been recreated by yours truly. Is that what they call "remixception"?
Either way, this has certainly been an interesting song to work on because it's so far from my usual orchestral comfort zone that I had to redo the mix multiple times. What made it difficult is that I couldn't rely on the baked-in panning and room ambience commonly found in orchestral sample libraries this time, so I kinda had to fake the room around the bone-dry samples myself. Fun. Anyway, I learnt a lot during this process and I believe these skills will come in handy when tackling the next couple of tracks in the OST, which will all require a similar approach. It'll probably be a while until that's ready, though I guess if you're subscribed, you'd be used to that already.
And while we're on the topic, subscribing to the channel would really help! Also, please tell me what you think about the track in the comments, as always, I'd love to read thoughts on it!
