Colombia University was the first theater for student-led anti-Israel/anti-Jewish activism following 10/7. The prevalence of critical theory taught at universities primed a generation of students for social justice activism, and since October 7th, the Free Palestine movement has taken center stage.
Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a student group on campuses, has been at the center of decimating information, organizing students, and promoting violence against Jewish students across America. At Colombia University, SJP played a critical role in the months-long encampment and occupation of Hamilton Hall.
Dominique speaks with Daniel Suhr, a lawyer representing five Colombia students in a class action lawsuit against key agitators at Colombia University, including the national SJP office, Colombia’s SJP chapter, faculty, and U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Jamaal Bowman.
The encampment on Colombia’s campus affected all students, as classes and university services were stalled due to the illegal actions of Colombia’s SJP. Anti-Jewish violence and the promotion of ideas championed by Hamas promoted the genocidal aims of the terrorist organization, fostering fear amongst the university’s Jewish population. Colombia’s SJP must be held accountable by providing justice to those affected and deterring future aggression.
