When I’m in our nation’s capital (I’m a native and this work regularly brings me there) I’ve got a favorite place to work on The Village Square’s little corner of saving the American experiment—the National Portrait Gallery’s atrium. I recently wrote in The Deseret News about what this place and the people (both past and present) mean to me—and the heartbreak I feel with the hate that is rolling back and forth between us. Sadly, more tragedy has occurred in the couple of weeks since the piece was printed. We’ve got to refuse to hate each other.
