Sammy’s BanjoRama was awesome! Kyser and Nick opened up the evening with Tommy on banjo and David on bass. Then a celebration of banjo players ensued. One after another of basically my top 10 bluegrass banjo heroes and they all played a number. Truett got to join Lee Lawson, Eddie Lawson, and George Cutchins for Lee’s performance and they killed The World is Waiting for the Sunrise. Then Sammy kicked off Lonesome Road Blues (with George on bass, Eddie on mandolin, and Truett on guitar!) and everyone took a break in the spotlight. LRB finished out the evening with a super tight show. I had the privilege of sitting behind Nick at the board and watching him work. He is an absolute machine. His attention to detail is incredible and he doesn’t stop until the sound is 100% dialed in and perfect. And perfect it was! It’s easy to see how Sammy keeps getting better and better, he’s just surrounded himself with the absolute best crew and they all push each other onward and upward. Can’t wait until next year’s BanjoRama, come join us.
