Fletcher-class destroyer USS KIDD (DD-661) returned to sea for the first time in 42 years. It was a three-day journey down the Mississippi River, across the Gulf of America, and up the Houma Navigational Canal. She is now drydocked at Thoma-Sea Shipyard undergoing a major overhaul.
