Many adults believe that the purpose of children's books is to teach a moral lesson or something educational. However, rather than attracting them, this belief may push children away from the joy of reading. Reading time can simply be for fun, and it's even better when we share stories together. From that, the best and most profound conversations, and even lessons, can emerge. Guilherme Karsten is a writer and illustrator of children's books. With a degree in Advertising and Graphic Design, he is the author of eight books, awarded in Brazil (Jabuti Award for Best Illustration) and abroad. He has also illustrated many books by Brazilian and international authors. His works have been published in more than 20 languages and have taken him to countries such as the USA, England, and China, where he has given presentations in schools and bookstores. Known for his distinctive style and fun stories that spark the reader's imagination, Guilherme believes that reading in childhood is much more exciting when it creates moments of interaction and connection. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
