The Anthem of the Soviet Union was played for the first time on the Soviet radio at midnight on 1 January 1944. The 1944 lyrics had three different refrains following three different stanzas; in each refrain, the second line was consequently modified with references to friendship, then happiness and finally to glory. Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union's war against Nazi Germany were originally invoked in the lyrics.With the process of de-Stalinization inaugurated after Stalin's death, the lyrics which referred to Stalin were considered unacceptable and the anthem was performed without lyrics. A notable exception took place at the 1976 Canada Cup ice hockey tournament, where the singer Roger Doucet insisted on performing the anthem with lyrics, after consultations with Russian studies scholars from Université de Montréal and the Soviet team officials. In 1977, to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the October Revolution, revised lyrics, earlier written in 1970 by the original author Sergey Mikhalkov, were adopted. The varying refrains were replaced by a uniform refrain following all stanzas; the line praising Stalin was dropped, as were the lines referring to the Great Patriotic War.

Our Great Virginia became the official traditional state song of Virginia in 2015. Sung to the traditional tune Oh Shenandoah, with music arranged by Jim Papoulis, its lyrics were written by Mike Greenly. By a vote of 39-0 in the Virginia state senate, Our Great Virginia was designated the official state traditional song, and Sweet Virginia Breeze was designated the official state popular song of Virginia (the bill was signed into law by the governor effective 7/1/15). Our Great Virginia” (lyrics by Mike Greenly and arranged by Jim Papoulis) is sung to the tune of “Shenandoah.”
“Carry Me Back to Old Virginia” was the original state song of Virginia (adopted in 1940), but in 1997 the designation was changed to the “state song emeritus.”")

Hymne Monégasque (in English: Monégasque Anthem) is Monacos national anthem.
Théophile Bellando de Castro wrote the lyrics and composed the music of the 1st edition of Hymne Monégasque in 1841, later Castil-Blaze modified the melody and made several other minor changes. In 1848 the National Guard, created by Prince Charles III, adopted Bellandos song and it became the March of the National Loyalists. In 1896 Charles Albrecht composed a new arrangement for piano, published by Tihebaux in Paris and called Air National de Monaco; in 1897 Decourcelle of Nice, printed an edition called 429 Hymne National de Monaco for piano.
Years later, François Bellini orchestrated the song by Albrecht; this new arrangement for a trio was judged to be too long for people in 1900 and ceased being played. The modern version was created by Léon Jehin in 1914 and was played for the first time during the 25th anniversary of the beginning Prince Alberts reign. Finally in 1931 Louis Notari wrote the lyrics in the Monegasque language. Only the Monegasque lyrics are official, reportedly dating back to a request from the Prince. The official lyrics contain only one verse. (The anthem is not usually even sung at all, except for official occasions.)")
