GRADUATION DAY!
This morning, we were honored to participate in a special graduation ceremony at Grant Sawyer Middle School.
The Hip Hop Entrepreneurship Program celebrated its graduates with this big event. The program catches the attention of youth through music and teaches them how to develop their skills-- even write business plans and copyright their music!
It also allows our officers to meet with the students and build relationships with the LVMPD Office of Community Engagement.
LVMPD Undersheriff Andy Walsh even provided a special performance!
The idea was developed by Robert Strawder and began with the pilot program in 2019 at Desert Rose High School.
Soon after the program's introduction, attendance boosted, behaviors improved, and grade point averages jumped! It has now been integrated into multiple schools.
