The Hina Matsuri or Girl's Day is a big festival celebrated every March 3rd and it goes back to the Heian Period (8th-12th century). It has colorful dolls and is one of the brightest national festivals in Japan. Here you can see several pairs of dolls representing the Japanese Emperor and Empress.
