As a new school year approaches, one classroom staple has people in Newfoundland and Labrador demanding answers. A glossy version of Hilroy Canada’s exercise books features a map of Canada, but it's missing Newfoundland and Cape Breton. CBC News spoke with locals who say the omission is 'bananas.'
UPDATE (Sept. 1, 2026): Hilroy Canada replied to CBC News after this video was posted. In a statement, they said, 'A printing error on one exercise book cover resulted in an inaccurate map of Canada.' In addition to apologizing for the error, Hilroy Canada is stopping distribution of books with inaccurate maps. Anyone who purchased a copy can reach out to the company for a replacement or a refund.
