Hillsborough County made history as the legendary S.S. American Victory was officially designated as the State Flagship of Florida. This prestigious honor reflected years of local investment and a deep-rooted commitment to preserving one of the last remaining pieces of World War II maritime history.
Built in just 55 days in 1945, this 455-foot marvel delivered critical supplies during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Today, it stands as a permanent fixture at the Port of Tampa, serving as a world-class museum, a memorial for our heroes, and a vital training ground for our local first responders.
