Pickens Nose is a rocky ridge, not a true summit, in the Nantahala National Forest near Standing Indian Basin in North Carolina, offering stunning views despite its relatively low elevation of 4,880 feet. It's named after Andrew Pickens, a South Carolinian, not a personal characteristic. The trail to the end of the ridge is short (about three-quarters of a mile) and gains only about 200 feet in elevation, making it a relatively easy hike for the views it provides.
