After playing the PSP port of the game a long time ago, I always wanted to play the original on PC. So, here it is: Higurashi Daybreak for the PC.

Troubleshooting with black screen / long load times / freezing?
(copy-and-pasted from a reply I made in the comments section)

✧ "Ah, I forgot to mention that. I also experienced that for a good while, as well. I found out what the possible reason was thanks to the Wiki for this game, which was probably because Daybreak was built with single-core computers that run on Windows in mind, so errors like the super long loading/freezing is like a byproduct of trying to run this old game on modern hardware, especially if your PC's got a processor with multiple cores like mine does.

I was able to figure out how to stop the constant freezing/loading by opening up Task Manager while the game was running, finding the game's executable in the Details tab, and setting it’s affinity to use only one core. Though, I had to do it every time I booted up the game, but it's something I can live with.

Not sure if you've got the exact same situation, but I hope this helps tho."
