Highway 412 is the newest 400-Series Highway in Ontario. It was built to connect Highway 401 with the Highway 407 extension, opening in 2016.
Like the 407 extension, it is owned and operated by the province. Tolling will start in 2017 with revenue going to the Ontario government.
Another parallel route to the east, Highway 418, is planned to be partially open in 2018 and complete by 2020. It is included in the next phase of the 407 extension. It will be similar to the 412 in design and length.
