Rua claimed the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Lyoto Machida at UFC 113. His first title defense was supposed to be against Rashad Evans at UFC 128. Unfortunately, Evans pulled out due to an injury and was replaced by Jon Jones who dominantly defeated Rua.
