Translation by David Bruce

Hey there by the river's course
Sits a young man with his horse
All he thinks about all day
Is his girl and his Ukraine

Hey, hey, hey sokoly
Fly over the mountains to me
Ring the bells when you arrive
And we'll be glad to be alive

I feel sorrow and despair
For the girl that I left there
I feel sorrow for Ukraine
I will never see again

Hey, hey, hey sokoly
Fly over the mountains to me
Ring the bells when you arrive
And we'll be glad to be alive

If I die the take me home
As I don't want to be alone and
Bury me in my homeland
With my beloved hand in hand

Hey, hey, hey sokoly
Fly over the mountains to me
Ring the bells when you arrive
And we'll be glad to be alive
