Characters are:
Sleetkit/Sleetfang/Sleet: Grey tom
Lostclaw/Lost: White molly with black stripes
Ambergaze: White tom who attacks Sleet

My nice and short synopsis for this:

Lost is Sleet and Amber's mother who was initially nice when they were kids(though only to Sleet because she was in exile for murder and could only speak to him through dreams). However, she becomes an evil spirit after Amber indirectly kills her because he's in denial over being related to a murderer.

Sleet, initially only remembering Lost's kind side and Amber's aggression towards him over drama about their parentage, is manipulated into murdering Ambergaze after their mother's death. As he stands above Amber's body, he starts to realize that the path he's just taken may be more messed up than he had first thought.

And then there's the actual main plot of Grey Ghosts because this convoluted mess is actually just a backstory I hate my brain

Now the incredibly Not Short synopsis if you're interested in details:

Lost is Sleet's mother who had been exiled from their clan for murder since before he and his siblings were born(She killed an enemy warrior who had killed her best friend during a battle, and then also proceeded to lose her cat husband when he tried to defend her actions). When they were born, Lost gave them up to her brother at the border, hoping her former clan could give them a better life.

All Lost wanted at that point was to be accepted again and thought that her children should be able to live happy clan lives even if she wasn't anymore. She struggled to stay in touch with her kids until miraculously she found a way to connect to one of her sons(Sleet) through dreams. Little did either of them know that they were connecting through the Dark Forest. Sleet spent much of his childhood adoring his mother as she was a genuinely kind and loving cat at the time. However, this situation would soon change.

As Sleet and his siblings grew older, they started hearing insults from their clanmates about their heritage. As a defense mechanism, Sleet's brother, Ambergaze decided that he would believe that he and their sister, Sunleaf, were not actually Sleet's siblings. Amber claimed that only Sleet was Lost's son and that he and Sun were not "monsters like them." Sleet and Sun were both shocked by this and tried to combat these rumors, but the much more popular Ambergaze won out here.

From the background as well was their uncle, Mossfur, who seemed to be goading both sides, trying to push Sleet into having to defend his mother.

As time went on, tensions rose between Sleet and Amber. The three had been close as kids, but now a divide was building between the toms with Sun caught in the middle trying to fix everything. Sleet and Amber had many yelling matches, the most heated one ending with Amber clawing Sleet's face, giving him a permanent scar. Amber, wanting answers to fix this situation, went after Lost one day.

He tracked her down and confronted her about everything. When she confirmed that he was her son, he couldn't handle it and began to panic, not taking notice of his surroundings. The edge of the cliff his mother had made into her home began to crumble, and Lost shoved her son away from the danger. As she herself dangled from the ledge, Amber could've saved her, but he simply watched as it crumbled further and she fell to her death.

After this, Sleet's rage towards Amber grew when he was celebrated for killing a dangerous rogue. Meanwhile, Lost's spirit was becoming darker and darker, convinced that it was The Light's(StarClan's) fault that her son had betrayed her so cruelly. In the end, she became an evil spirit and began to haunt Sleet. Lost and Moss then goaded Sleet on to give into his hatred of his brother, blinding him to any option other than murder. Sleet finally begins to realize something is horribly wrong with this situation as he stands over the body of his brother who he's just killed.
