SOME NOTES/DISCLAIMERS:
1 I had a more serious energy in this video than a lot of my others. I speak a bit slower, more quietly and at times I realized I may come across as tired/sluggish because it's a difficult topic for me to speak about. I have a lot of anger relating to oppression and I was trying not to show that too much in the video, but stay factual and calm. But I guess factual and calm Anya is just SLOW. xD

2 I don't know why I said the word "colonization" instead of "colonialism" so many times. xD Anyways, the word "colonialism" describes the whole phenomenon better as a whole, even if the meanings are similar.

3 I keep mentioning "lighting someone's house on fire" - I'm using this as a physical comparison to what a hex could potentially do magically if you seriously hex someone. I mention it because I want to make it clear that when it comes to doing PHYSICAL harm to a person, we're more reluctant than when we do MAGICAL harm, which is not really logical to me. So just like you would question someone lighting someone's house on fire as revenge, you should question someone using a serious hex for a minor offense.

4 What I didn't mention, but also think about: Hexes have become a bit too normalized in the witchcraft community. Of course there are people who say it's "bad" and you shouldn't do it - and as an overreaction to this, I feel like some people say "hexes are always fine, the end justifies the means" etc. I think both of these opinions are too extreme, and we should walk the middle path of self-reflection, checking for justifications for hexing, and being able to balance out the offense done to us vs the intensity of the hex we do as a response. Some people talk about hexes because they think it's cool or gives them some silly superiority of power that they hex people all the time - it doesn't.

Description:
In this video, I talk about hexes and why I think not using hexes can be a sign of privilege, rather than moral superiority.

My shortest definition of a hex: A malicious spell cast with malicious intent that is meant to cause harm to another person.

I will name the three things which marginalized people need the most here in the description as well as the video because I feel it's important:
1 Healing from conditioning/trauma caused by capitalism, racism, colonialism, etc.
2 Tools for change (because the governing bodies often don't care about marginalized societies and affecting change is not easy)
3 Tools for justice (because the justice system is often not in favor of the oppressed)
