Hervey Bay is a small community in Queensland Australia, it is referred as the whale watching capital of the world by many. Pacific Whale Foundation has been conducting research on Humpback Whales in Hervey Bay for over 30 years. The overarching goal of PWF’s research is to advance understanding of humpback whale biology, population status and impacts of human activities on the population. PWF’s Southern Hemisphere Humpback Whale ID Catalog is a compilation of 31 seasons of research, combining detailed data on life history, behavior, spatial distribution, and human impacts.
