Back in 1988, someone at Hershey thought it would be a good idea to spruce up the traditional Hershey's Chocolate World ride with a talking robot and $4.5 million worth of new special effects. The public hated it and the company quickly reverted back to the original ride. This video is every bit as dumb as I remember it (being a sensible 11-year-old at the time).
December 2023 update: I just visited Chocolate World and if you follow the ride queue way back into a corner, you will see an acknowledgment of this complete with a production photograph of the robot and the text:
"1988 - The tour ride was modified significantly to include new lighting and sound systems as well as a special "Visitor" from outer space, named CP-1.
The alien visitor returned to his/her planet the following year in 1989."
(As a side note, the version of the ride with the robot is about a thousand times better than the soulless husk that's there now.)
