In this video I discuss Hermitian matrices. These are square matrices over the filed of complex numbers such that the matrix and its Hermitian adjoint (complex transpose) are equal.

Hermitian matrices have the important proporties of real-valued eigenvalues and orthogonal eigenvectors for distinct eigenvalues. These topics will be covered later. They do make Hermitian matrices very useful as observable physical quantities in quantum mechanics and they are also very useful in algorithms in numerical linear algebra.
