My Quarantine build. This is a machine configuration I have been working with for a little over a year and a half to prove components and designs. The drive wheel was a major hurdle but it is not over come with a crowned one piece hardened D2 tool steel drive. The motor is a 3hp, 3ph, 220 volt, 400 hz, 24000 RPM and weighs only 11 pounds. At 24000 rpm the belt is being driven at over 7900 SFPM. It delivers very smooth power to the belt with max power at top speed. This is in contrast to 60 hz motors that begin to loose power as they are driven over 60 hz in order to get higher belt speeds. In my opinion over this long period of use and testing and feedback from field test machines is the power delivery is superior to the conventional motor drives in terms of usability. Slower machines require you to push harder of the belt to remove material faster. This machine relies more on belt speed for faster removal without significantly increasing the belt pressure. These high belt speeds put you into a performance range were modern Industrial ceramic super grits such as Cubitron ii really shine. These belts require high speed and pressure to stay sharp and cutting at best levels. Many 2 x 72 machines are simply too slow and weak to benefit from the best belt out there. One of the operators of an H1 field test machine has a TW-90. He does chef knives using already heat treated blanks. With the TW-90 He was having overheating issues while grinding bevels on the chef knives. He thought the solution was to go slower. After discussion he accepted my suggestion to try my machine and run it at 7000 or higher SFPM. He did this using my Multi Guide Pro bevel guide to control the blank at this high speed. His feedback was "Game Changer". Now he can do two full flat grinds on his chef knives in only 9 minutes without overheating issues.
